COMING SHOW
Kouvola Art Museum Poikilo
Kouvola, Finland
24.9.2026. - 10.1.2027.
“What’s happening here? (Mitäs täällä tapahtuu?) is an art exhibition designed with both adults and children in minds. The exhibition’s works are mostly from Art Museum Poikilo’s own collections. Yasushi Koyama was invited to be the exhibition’s star guest; his wooden sculptures are the epitome of cuteness.”
This is my first art museum exhibition in Finland. I show three large wood sculptures of “Panda mom & child”, “Walking cat wearing Katja´s T-shirt”, and “Gentle lion”. I would like to give people the sense of touch, happiness, participation, social inclusion, hugging and sitting experience on art. Please hug & sit on my art at Kouvola art museum!
PREVIOUS SHOW
I had my solo exhibition Metsänhaltijat at Galleria Huuto in Helsinki, Finland 29.7. - 23.8.2026.
Galleria Huuto, Helsinki 29.7.-23.8.2026
The elk has been the living spirit of the forest. Every winter its antlers fell to the ground, and every spring they grew again like the branches of a tree. In this, ancient people saw the forest's eternal cycle of death and renewal.
In my exhibition I showed wood & ceramic sculptures of elk (moose), reindeer, deer and other forest animals with a wall painting of forest at Galleria Huuto in Helsinki.
PUBLIC ART PROJECT
I stayed & worked at the artist residency Our air in Jakobstad, Finland 24.5.-12.6.2026 to create the wood sculpture "Jakobstad Lion".
I got inspired by the blue lion with a red crown of Jacobstad's city emblem. It was installed as public art in Jakobstad city library.
A local newspaper Österbottens Tidning wrote down an article about this project on 11.6.2026.
